About Us

The following content is for your information only. Dr. Aris is an optometrist who deals with ocular effects of migraine headache. She can not and does not diagnose migraine headache neither is this webpage intended to diagnose or treat migraine. Migraine is a diagnosis of exclusion, which means that all other causes for headache have been ruled out. You are advised and encouraged to work with your primary care physician to discover the cause and best treatment options for you and your headache.
Your Story is Our Story
We know firsthand that migraine can be incredibly challenging to endure, impacting both your physical well-being and emotional health. Dr. Aris has spent her career researching and looking for methods to prevent and manage migraine. Understanding the complexities of how light impacts pain, we have partnered with Avulux migraine and light sensitivity glasses to provide you with a non-pharmaceutical way to manage head pain. These lenses block the wavelengths of light that are associated with pain and allow the "feel-good" wavelengths through. These lenses have been clinically proven and can be used for both prevention and for acute attacks. Our goal is to support you on your journey to finding relief. You're not alone in this; we are here to help you every step of the way.

The following items are from Dr. Aris's typical migraine patient education. Consult your primary care doctor for additonal information.
Water Intake
Increasing your water intake to improve consistent blood flow may help to reduce blood vessel hypersensitivity
Caffeine
Caffeine is a double-edge sword. Too much caffeine triggers blood vessel hypersensitivity. Additionally, inconsistent levels of caffeine can contribute to migraine.
Vitamins
Daily recommended vitamins may help reduce migraine headache pain. Particularly B-vitamins and magnesium.
Diet
Poor diet that is low in vitamins and high in fat and sugar can increase the likelihood of migraine. Individual nuances might also make a particular food more problematic.
